[Pkg-shadow-devel] Bug#529897: login: sg does not return error code of run command

Lionel Elie Mamane lionel at mamane.lu

Package: login
Version: 1:4.1.3.1-1
Severity: normal

# sh -c false; echo $?
1
# sg list false; echo $?
0

This is particularly problematic when sg is used in a script. The
script has no way of knowing whether the run command has failed or
not; this leads to e.g. the mailman package's postinst to ignore some
errors on configure.
