Does shibboleth-sp2 create invoke a constructor of that class?  Do the
compiled binaries contain any reference to the vtable?

An out-of-line copy of the vtable and and its method is emittted in
each compilation unit that contains a constructor call, I think.  I
would have to look at the cxx-abi document to be sure.
