I got debian/ from Seneca and uploaded it to svn yesterday (not sure
why the commit messages didn't go through, but it's working fine
today).

It's the 1.2.5 release that has a debian/ directory in svn now. I
uploaded the pristine debian/ from that release to tags/ and put a
copy of it into trunk/ as a starting point for us. Seneca advised that
the 9* patches were obsolete so I removed them, and she explained the
README.Ubuntu was there just pointing at the README.Debian so Ubuntu
folks would find the appropriate directions (I have no opinion about
this, not sure what is proper).

This will probably take a few of us so we cover everything. I've been
going through it but some more experienced eyes would be great.

I went through the dependencies in the control file, they all appear
to be included in Debian testing/unstable with appropriate versions,
with the exception of Recommends "mail-transport-agent" but that might
simply be something I'm not familiar with.

The deb-prereq file I grabbed from sourceforge includes:

libconfig-std-perl_0.0.4-1_all.deb (0.0.4-2 in Debian testing)
libclass-std-perl_0.0.8-1_all.deb (0.0.8-3 in Debian testing)

So it appears we're good to go on this front.

Unless anyone else sees any dependency issues that I'm not seeing, I
think our efforts now need to be focused on testing this with the
latest version (I'll start giving this a go tonight) and getting it
policy compliant.
