Like it was for Debian Squeeze (this bug is present for a long time).

Anyway, wheezy is planned to be released in a few days, and the release
team will never agree for such fix.

About the severity of this bug, you should take a look at the related
documentation[1].

The severity 'important' stand for "a bug which has a major effect on
the usability of a package, without rendering it completely unusable to
everyone."

IMO, it fits perfectly for this bug.
