I confirm that udev 240-2 fixes the problem of my root LV going "missing".

The (less pressing) problem of the lvm2-activation-generator failing
with non-zero exit status remains, but, as was mentioned in a reply to
another bug respondent, that issue is covered by a different bug (#917164).
