Sorry, but tis is wrong.

/proc is normaly mounted under the base-system and if you
need /proc in your CHROOT, you need to BIND it with:

/proc   /ia32/proc      none    bind    0       0
                        ^^^^    ^^^^

This works very fine here on my Development workststion
where I run Woody, Sarge, Etch and Sid in 4 chroots with X

Because you should BIND it.
