These systems are broken.  /dev/shm/ is for use by the glibc shm*
functions, and not for general poking.  Symlinking /tmp/ to /dev/shm/
have never been supported, and it very unlikely to become supported in
the future.  I am working on providing /lib/init/rw/ as a general
purpose tmpfs file system (packages uploaded to experimental allow
this), and I hope you find time to test it.

I belive the systems misusing /dev/shm/ need to be modified instead.
