If only that were true. Do you remember our discussion in the thread
"Slow shutdown in dependency-based boot system" starting at ? That
problem was tracked down to portmap _not_ writing a pidfile, and the
bug I filed against portmap is still open.
However, this does not explain why portmap isn't stopped at all.
