I'm not quite sure what the problem described is all about.  There is
not enough information provided to understand the problem.  But the
fsck comments make me suspect you want to change the server
configuration to automatically repair file systems.  See rcS(5) and
the FSCKFIX option for that.

Which version of the initscripts package do you have installed?
