It also looks like, that neither splashy nor plymouth (the two remaining boot
splash programs) use the splash api provided by initscripts.

So I'm wondering if all splash related functionality should be ripped out of
initscripts. With no-one actually using it, it only bloats and slows down the
initscripts.
