A short update after I saw that freedesktop-sound-theme is in the
Recommends: list and more tests:

1) installing gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio alone is enough to have the audio
sliders in the call sidebar working, without it the call window
crashes when clicking on the sliders (still, there are no sounds at
all). Bug title updated with a "must" to avoid the crash.

2) installing freedesktop-sound-theme alone is enough to have the
ringing sound on SIP incominig call, but clicking on 'Accept' does
not really accepts the call and clicking on the sliders in the
sidebar crashes the call window as point 1 above.

3) when installing pulseaudio alone you do not get any sound and still
the call window crashes as point 1 above.

4) installing both gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio and pulseaudio lets you
   call/receive SIP numbers, but:

   a. without freedesktop-sound-theme I can not get anymore the ringing
sounds, it seems I am wrong in remembering this package not being
installed before, bug title updated. However, two sounds are
      missing, see #649889.

   b. the caller/receiver hears me but not the contrary and her/his
voice is simply sent back to her/his phone. This is a PulseAudio
      problem for chroots, see #649884.

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
