[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#469528: dist-upgrade hal configuration error

The same problem with me:

   Reloading system message bus config...Failed to open connection to system
message bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket:
   Connection refused...
   ...Error processing hal --configure...

This is when using "dist-upgrade" on Debian etch to lenny/sid.
I solve this with waking up the dbus with:
   /etc/init.d/dbus start
At that point start apt-get -f install and all thing pass normaly
