Hi

I guess everyone who reads our changes-list allready saw that there
were a "few" mails on the list which came from our new subversion
repository. I now completed integrating all packages from our=20
cvs-repository into the new svn-repository, so the biggest wave of
mails should now be over. ;-)

So to make it short: We will use subversion and svn-buildpacke to
manage the official packages from now on, please do not commit files
to the cvs-repository anymore, i can not guarantee that such changes=20
will be integrated into the svn-repository also.=20

The repository is located under [1] and a webinterface for it can be=20
found under [2], everyone who uses a rss-feed reader can get a feed=20
of the logmessages from [3].

Some Background which lead to this decision:

I was thinking about an improvement of our version control system
since a while, about 2 weeks ago i bought this book: [4] (also
available online as english version under [5]) I was immediately
fascinated by the improvement of subversion compared to cvs.

(I can only recommend this book to every one who is interested in
subversion, the german version of the book is also translated very=20
well.)

Last wednesday Tobias an I met the second time in real life (he lives
only about 30 km from where i am studying), to speak a little bit
about future plans..., so i asked him what he thinks about subversion
and i was pleased that he likes it and also that he allready has some
experience with it. So we decided that it would be nice to change to
subversion.=20

Another reason for this decision was that the cvs-server on alioth is
very unreliable and slow, the subversion repository is located on
svn.debian.org, which is a dedicated macine just for subversion
repositories, therefore it is much faster. (Ok, i can not judge about
the reliability of this machine now , but i hope it is much better as
alioth.) :)

I hope that the other ones who have cvs-commit-access (Peter Siering=20
and Thomas G=FCnther) are not offended because we made this decision=20
without them. :)
