Uhm ... this change implies that in the future we wont automatically
notice if upstream is shipping more files than we expect.

Perhaps you can remove them by hand just after upstream installation in
debian/rules and keep the --fail-missing switch?

I will probably be without network connectivity today (starting from a
minute ago :-) so I can't do it right now.

BTW have you understood why the failure happened only on those 3 archs?
