This is not a bug.  As per the comments in $VIMRUNTIME/syntax/perl.vim,
you need to "let perl_extended_vars =3D 1" to enable proper highlighting
of complex variables.

    " If you *want* complex things like @{${"foo"}} to be processed,
    " just set the variable "perl_extended_vars"...
