Building the latest vim version on svn I easily get segfault:

  zack at aquarium:~$ echo foo > bar
  zack at aquarium:~$ mkdir t
  zack at aquarium:~$ cd t
  zack at aquarium:~/t$ ln -s ../bar
  zack at aquarium:~/t$ vi bar
  Vim: Caught deadly signal SEGV

  Hit ENTER or type command to continueVim: Finished.

  Segmentation fault
  zack at aquarium:~/t$

Are you able to reproduce it as well James?
