[Pkg-virtualbox-devel] unable to run x windows in guest machines

Hi,
Not really sure if it's a bug or a misconfiguration, so I ask here
before writing to bugs at debian.org.

I built the new virtualbox package from the sources from unstable apt
repository, on Etch.
Everyting seems fine, and I can run grml live cd, for example, quite fine.

Only when I start the x windows there, the machines hangs after
rendering a grey(the color of the x-windows when started without
windowmanager and not setting the background) x-windows screen with a
mouse in the center of it, but nothing happens anymore.

When trying for example Ubuntu in live cd mode, the same: all the init
stuff runs through fine, but when it comes to the point where normally x
is started, the system hangs.

Is this a generic virtualbox problem, a misconfiguration, or is it just
stupid to expect the unstable sources to be easily backported to etch?

Henning
