[Pkg-virtualbox-devel] Bug#512725: "Could not find VirtualBox installation. Please reinstall."

Package: virtualbox-ose
Version: 2.1.0-dfsg-2

I upgraded from Sun's virtualbox 2.0 package to Debian's
virtualbox-ose 2.1.0.  The kernel modules are installed and loaded.

When I try to start virtualbox (no matter which of the commands), I
get:

 Could not find VirtualBox installation. Please reinstall.

Reinstalling the Debian package does not affect this error.
