the fix is already in svn. I just can't get svn-buildpackage to fly
again. Somewhat is very fishy today with subversion or svn-buildpackage
which i cannot figure out yet how to solve it.

And yes, we are shipping libgsm1-dev as dependency legally. It's in
main.

Disabling the one codec that does work ok with GM? Are you NUTS?! That's
the only codec i have left that doesn't screw up my audio quality!

go ahead and fix the asterisk/trunk. The fix is in as dpatch already.
