I tracked the problem even further. Here is what I/we (Ulrich and I) did:

 * Compiled binutils 2.14.90.0.7-8 without the hppa-patch invented in
   2.14.90.0.7-6.=20
 * Compiled pwlib,=20
 * Compiled openh323=20
 * and compiled GM with that version of binutils.

This compiles clean.

So it seems to me that the patch introduced in 2.14.90.0.7-6 has effects
compiling GM.
