Which can easily be overriden by setting CC=3Ddistcc in the environment.
I did ssee a number of LD=3Dgcc in subdirectory makefiles (e.g:
codecs/gsm) but didn't bother looking into them yet.

Have you actually tried to use distcc? Any errors?
