Any special reason not to install m-a (besides the extra package to

Before the adaptation to m-a the package zaptel-source had the source of
the module extracted. Now it is in a separate tarball, which makes
building without m-a more complicated.

Are you sure that this is supposed to work?

Why not simply (as a user, not even as root) :

  m-a -u . -t -l 2.6.12-1-k7 build zaptel

Which is kind of a shorthand for:

  m-a -u . -t -k /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-k7 build zaptel

But will not run over package-installed files.

You need the full source tarball if you go that route, I guess.
