Debian Build issues with twinkle

Sorry to get into this conversation, but I was asking in a separate thread
to the debian voip team why is it that the new thinkle depends on kde while
the old one didn't.

Is it just for the systray thing? If it is just for thwt couldn't the
systray thing be made independantly of kde, in the way gaim and others do?

And what is more important to me, can it be built without the need for kde
even though we loose the systray or some other functionality?

I specially dislike that the new twinkle, at least on my tests and as we are
building it now on Debian, starts artsd and some other kdeish things.

Just wondering.
