I my word count (having only posted emails so far, not provided real
code yet), I am part of the pkg-voip team but disagree with the claimed
consensus.

In Debian, some files are for the local admin to mess around with, and
some files are expected to only be managed by the Debian packaging
routines.

In my opinion asterisk_fix is tied to postinst of the asterisk package
(that is, only binary packages built from the asterisk source package).
Not other packages, and not the local admin.

Each (source) package must maintain sane access rights for files
provided by its binary packages. Not puking files into some shared
space and rely on a shared script to then correct access rights.

There might be a need for a tidying script for the local admin. But
that does not seem to be the current aim of asterisk_fix.
