Yes, that's pretty much it. I'll send the patch I used for OpenSER to
the bug.

Ditto; I have a patch for this.

You may want to take a look at the openser source package and its
debian patches - it's likely that you'll run into the same problems
with SER (SMP build, lib64 on 64bit arches, and the build ignoring
build errors when building the modules).
