Asterisk 1.8 schedule

Hi,

I'm about to do a large Asterisk implementation on Debian Testing for a 
client and was wondering if you have any tentative schedules for 
availability of Asterisk 1.8 on Debian Testing.  If 1.8 is expected to 
be packaged and available "soon" in the standard repositories, I'd much 
prefer to go with the LTS release than the current 1.6.
