I am interested too in helping out with Asterisk, if relevant.

I am hesitating stating this, however.  Not becuase I am not interested 
- I am! - but because I do not want anyone (including Tzafrir) to feel I 
am bulldozing, and the way I work easily can be seen like that:

  * I will use Git (not Subversion)
  * I will use CDBS (not explicit lont-form debhelper like now,
    nor short-form dh as others might want to convert it to).

If ok with that, I will quite happily engage in maintaining Asterisk, 
and also am happy working with others that are ok using that packaging 
style.
