That's not it. I didn't read the documentation properly. But #614786
indeed applies. As it was applied by upstream in their stable branch,
and is simple enough, I see no reason not to apply it in the 1.8
package.

That said, I was unable to reproduce you issue. The only bluetooth phone
I have (N900) seems to work (though I can't seem to get audio working,
and SMS sending is not supported).
