Hi Benjamin,

The very first entry in the /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/NEWS.Debian.gz 
explains the situation.

Because it was the linux kernel that made this change, and not 
wpa_supplicant, I am not sure it is really a good idea to ask 
wpa_supplicant to track changes in driver API. Rather, this is the job 
of distribution maintainers (we have already documented it in our 
internal NEWS file) or the upstream driver maintainers (in the case the 
ipw2100 project).
