Right, using xvc0 in the extras line in test.cfg and inittab, makes
the console work.
However, SSH still gives
PTY allocation request failed on channel 0
stdin: is not a tty

During apt-get install less, I also get the warning:
Can not write log, openpty() failed (/dev/pts not mounted?)
