It's not a problem with the kernel as such.

The issue here is that the Debian installer does not include a variant
which uses a Xen-compatible kernel which is in turn because there was no
support in the pvops kernel for 64 bit the 2.6.26 which is what Lenny
uses.

This is fixed already in Squeeze.

The nature of the changes is such that backporting to Lenny is extremely
unlikely.
