Such as whether it has been manually disable by the admin and stuff like
that?

We aren't renaming anything though. We are starting with "xend" and
moving to "xend" + "xencommons" (for example). The "xend" script will
depend on services provided by xencommons, which I believe insserv does
cope with.

Apart from that it sounds like this is at least a wishlist bug against
insserv. It surely can't be acceptable that insserv requires that a
maintainer never split/combine/modify/rename their initscripts.
