Sounds reasonable to me. BTW did you spot the new init script
"xencommons" which arrived in 4.1? It should be run in both cases and
before the xend initscript in that case (there is no equivalent xl
initscript).

I mention it because perhaps /etc/default/xencommons would be a better
home for $IMPLEMENTATION?

Maybe $TOOLSTACK instead of $IMPLEMENTATION?
