Actually the slow link didn't impair remote testing as muc as I feared.
I've now reproduced the problem Sebastian saw and confirmed that the
change fixes it.

Shall I produce a full .diff.gz/.dsc or is the debdiff sufficient?

BTW I'm in GMT+08 and will shortly be offline for the evening, and
possibly the rest of the weekend.
