I'm not especially attached to either method.  In general the goodies
use cdbs and the desktop stuff doesn't.

Sometimes in cdbs you have to jump through quite a few hoops to actually
achieve what you want.

I'm open to discussion on this point and think either method is fine at
the moment but don't especially want to convert things for the sake of
it.

Why do you bring this up out of interest?  Are you proposing we do
convert to all cdbs?
