There's no point compiling against 4.2 until it's in the archive
somewhere I don't think.

The person from debian-powerpc who popped with some packages of 4.2 and
that I haven't heard from since?

Have you run the packages I created at all?  The ones at
http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4/ ?
The ones that I based on both Madkiss and benny's work and the ones that
I would suggest would go into Debian as the 4.2.x packages.

Elimar did say he'd join this list and come help us.  Are you here?
