[Pkg-xfce-devel] Xfce 4.4-rc1, xfce task and artwork

Ok so everyone should have noticed that Xfce 4.4-rc1 (4.3.99.1) is
released and has ended in our svn. unreleased.txt [0] has been updated.
It would be nice if people (maintainers, at least) could begin to test
it. I've built ppc & i386 packages at my repository [1]. There shouldn't
be issues this time, no soname bump, no name change.

I have a question about xfce4-goodies depending on
xfce4-xfapplets-plugin, which add a gnome dependency on xfce4-goodies.
It may become a problem for the xfce task which will soon be there (I've
spoken with stratus before the artwork meeting about that). Maybe we
should have a xfce4-goodies and a xfce4-goodies-full ? Or a
xfce4-goodies-light ? I don't really know.

xfce task should depend on xfce4, xfce4-goodies, thunar, xfce4-terminal,
mousepad, xfmedia, xarchiver, xfburn, ... Thoughts ?

It would be nice if rc1 was uploaded soon so it reaches testing before
rc2 is out. I really hope that 4.4 will be out before freeze, and I'll
contact release managers soon to talk with them about this.

Tonight was the debian-desktop artwork meeting. I advise people to
subscribe to debian-destop mailing list where summary will be posted,
but we agreed that we need a way to have a package wich would configure
default artwork (for us it means wallpaper and splash theme). Default
wallpaper is currently hardcoded in common/xfdesktop-common.h and splash
need hacking too, but I guess it's not too hard to do.
