Ok so that's a tasksel “problem”. That's where the problem needs a fix.

Tasksel doesn't use apt-get. It use aptitude -R. So no recommends are
installed. Testing with Recommends will bring you all the crap, yeah.

Well, the “fix” needs to go in tasksel, where the package list for
xfce-desktop is. What exactly would you like to see there?
