Strange,
both links to the Ubuntu Launchpad bug reports above seem to be wrong.
Here are two links that shoud work:

   https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/177103
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/231923

This has been confirmed many times by different people, but it is very
difficult to reproduce. Right now, it is not happening with my
computer, but once it happens, you are stuck with it for quite a long
time.
