I see, you have uploaded the new version 1.0.0-1 of lightdm.
I did a completely new installation of Debian Sid on my Testcomputer.
The problem no more exists.

I see in the logfile var/log/installer/syslog:
  1. installation of lightdm-gtk-greeter
  2. installation of lightdm

That's the same order which fails with version 0.9.7.

Please close this bug report.
