It seems to start just fine but then fail pam authentication. Does the
lightdm user exist? Maybe look at the x-0-greeter.log too.

Did it work before the upgrade? Is there something special about your
config? Did you change something to lightdm.conf or
lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf?
