Hi,

I did a few tests today. While I was successful getting to work startx
properly, I didn't manage to get an active CK session with slim (I
didn't try xdm). kdm, gdm3 and lightdm work out of the box.

So my recommendation is:
If you use a display manager, you can either use kdm, gdm(3) or lightdm.
They all have native CK support and work out of the box. lightdm being
the most lightweight one which probably fits xfce4's goal best.

If you want to use startx, modify /etc/pam.d/common-session and add a line
session required pam_loginuid.so
*before* the pam_ck_connector module.

With a simple echo "exec startxfce4" > ~/.xsession I was able to get a
proper CK session which is correctly marked as local and active when
started via startx.

HTH,

Michael
