[Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#710098: xfce4-notifyd shows artefacts in "transparent" areas with i3wm and no compositing

Package: xfce4-notifyd
Version: 0.2.4-2
Severity: normal
with the i3wm window manager and no compositing manager active (which is
correctly reported by gtk_widget_is_composited), i get artefacts showing
along the edges (which are supposed to be hidden).
i looked at the code and disabled this line from xfce-notify-window.c
(which is supposed to be executed only when compositing is *off*, which
was the case):
gdk_window_shape_combine_region(widget->window, region, 0, 0);
i'm aware that this disables the whole window clipping on non-composited
outputs, so either
* this should detect that window shaping isn't supported by the window
manager and not even try,
* i3 should properly announce that it can't do this, or
* i3 should respect this setting.
this bug report is filed against xfce4-notifyd assuming that it can be
fixed there, but if that's impossible, please reassign to i3-wm.
