Fully agree, but...

...I have to configure xfce4-power-manager to be shown in the LXDE
preferences *system-wide*, not for each of the ~20 users that *could*
log in a machine (LDAP users here!).  Which means that adding files at
login is a no-op, as well as menu editing after login.

Modifications to /etc/xdg/autostart/xfce4-power-manager.desktop will
be preserved on upgrades, but it is a bit strange to tell people to
configure an application to be started at login and then logoff/login
to have it started for the first time...

AFAIK, there is no good power manager for LXDE and most of the time
the advice I have found on the net is to use XFCE's one (as for other
LXDE components).  For this reason, IMHO the submitter's suggestion is
a different beast that #673360 or #673363.
