package: xfce4-session
Version: 4.10.1-8
Severity: wishlist
README.Debian has a nice section entitled "Running Xfce from the console",
which was written for Wheezy as a result of #658284:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=658284
This advice does not to be appear applicable under Jessie's default init system.
However, the changelog for xinit_1.3.3-1 has
* 10-startx-Under-Linux-start-X-on-the-current-VT.patch,
11-startx-Pass-vtX-as-long-as-the-user-did-not-specify-.patch: By default
start the server on the current VT, this is necessary to avoid logind to
see the startx session as inactive (Closes: #743015)
Basically, startx just works and nothing should have to be done for the
session to be active.
I'd suggest replacing the present text with a short note on this behaviour
with logind. Or maybe nothing is needed at all?
Regards,
Brian.
