Package: xfce4-notifyd
Version: 0.2.4-3+b1
Severity: minor
Dear Maintainer,
I am using GNOME in Debian testing, while having XFCE installed.
Since some time I am informed on each login that xfce4-notifyd can't
start because GNOME is already providing a notification daemon.
I think it should be possible to have two desktop environments installed
at the same time. It should be possible to switch between full installations
of GNOME and XFCE simply via the login screen. notifyd shouldn't throw an
error each time GNOME does its job.
This may be related to #640082, since a start via session manager would
probably make it easier to start notifyd only in XFCE. But I don't care
about the mechanism used to start notifyd, I just want it to be quiet until
it is needed.
Thanks for your work!
Michael
