my experience with testing=stretch:
Renaming files in thunar sometimes segfault thunar.
Unfortunately it only seldomly happen (once a week or so).
Note: using mv in bash never made thunar crash.
It happens when doing in a Thunar window:
- right click on file icon (ex: a txt document)
- select 'Rename...'
- type the new name, press enter
then sometimes (not systematically)
- (all) thunar windows disappear
- ex in dmesg report:
Thunar[3031]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f2c0ef1434e sp 00007ffec0734348 error 4 in libc-2.24.so[7f2c0ee85000+195000]

restarting thunar:
the files name was properly changed => crash happen after thunar completed the name change.
