Hi all,

As part of the Debian RTC initiative, efforts are underway to run an
instance of Prosody for all debian.org users (Debian Developers)

Any help that people can provide with this now or after it goes live
would be very welcome.

We are starting with the basic Prosody modules enabled, this should
probably be reviewed at some point and then a single RT request sent to
DSA to enable additional modules.

There will be an official announcement from somebody to
debian-devel-announce, possibly from myself or DSA, when XMPP becomes
officially live and supported. You may find it working at some times
before the announcement, but it may stop and start intermittently and
there is no guarantee that the buddy lists and other server-side data
are backed up.

The setup is being tracked in DSA RT, ticket number 4908. Any messages
to RT about the ticket need to have [rt.debian.org #4908] in the subject
line.

Things that may help:

- Reviewing the wikis:
https://wiki.debian.org/UnifiedCommunications/DebianDevelopers
https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingProsody
https://wiki.debian.org/JabberClients

- Ensuring that Prosody and related packages released to backports are a
smooth upgrade in case DSA wants to use them

- testing with different clients

- helping other DDs to try it

Regards,

Daniel
