I have a VM called ztest just for trying new zfs-dkms and kernel-image
packages in. and also for experimenting & practicing with zfs and other
filesystem stuff before I use them on real systems.

A great way to learn, and a great way to avoid causing problems on important
systems.

I keep all kernel and dkms module packages on hold with "apt-mark hold" so
that they never get automatically upgraded, only when I want them to.
