hi

here I summarize the 'zope-common' idea:

We should create a package 'zope-common' , containing:
-) creation and deletion of user and group 'zope'

-) debconf questions such as=20
'do you want restarting of zope after install of zope- packages'

-) a consistent machinery to implement the above restarting,
   for any zope server that is installed;
consider: someone is packaging zope3, and an user may have multiple
instances of zope, zope2.6 and zope3 running: all these should be
   restarted. Note that /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/90zope
    does not call /etc/init.d/zope2.7 .
Maybe /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/90zope should call anything that matches
   /etc/init.d/zope[0-9\.]* =20

-) the Debian docs, namely, zope-admin and zope-policy

then, zope 2.6 and zope2.7 should be changed accordingly.

Unfortunately: the Debian freeze seems near; but
I will have be travelling, with few chances of net
access, up to 1st october; so I hardly can help on this.=20
On the other hand, if we decide to do it,
the above change should be done ASAP.

Questions? Comments? Who does the job?

We may also=20
-) change the current 'zope' to 'zope2.6' and have it install in
   /usr/lib/zope2.6
-) and consequently reserve /usr/lib/zope as a place where=20
zope-* packages would install , so that they would be=20
   seen by any zope package.
But maybe this would not work , and I would not dare trying this before=20
the release of sarge.

a.
